About The Artwork

The meaning of the Japanese word Shoki is "The Demon Queller" which is a deity of Chinese origin. This drawing was originally drawn in 2003 and started from me looking at this Asian Fine Art magazine. There was a blend of Chinese and Japanese artifacts and the name Shoki seemed to definitely define the picture better, even though the name was picked very much after the fact of finishing the piece.

Art is one of my favorite escapes in life. My inspiration to be an artist started mostly from 80's cartoons and 90's comics. Anime followed, and my interests eventually evolved into abstract and surreal art. I have been painting for the last 15 years, and I am still learning and discovering new ways to express my subconscious. I am lucky to have a creative hobby to pore my energy into, because I have quite the restless mind.
