About The Artwork

In my artwork of zebras, I blend graffiti with my own photographs, acrylic, and pen techniques to create a vivid street art landscape that challenges the conventional portrayal of wildlife. I photographed the zebras in the Etosha National Park, Namibia (Africa). The zebras are not just animals but emblems of diversity and individuality, each stripe telling a unique story against a backdrop bursting with colorful, symbolic graffiti. I include KhoiSan/bushmen drawings to merge this ancient form of expression with contemporary street art. The zebra laughing is from one of my previous paintings. This piece speaks to the beautiful chaos in nature and society, inviting viewers to embrace the vibrant diversity in the world.

Ann is a vibrant and prolific artist, wildlife photographer, and author. She was voted in 2020 as one of South Africa's top artists. She initially became known for her ‘ewe/sheep’ series of work. Whilst maintaining her ironic humor she has painted a number of other series of works, including ‘Wild Life’ ‘Zulu Lulu’ and 'Going to the Dogs series. A recurring theme in her work is a play on words and the use of popular jargon. Her quirky, humorous, yet profoundly insightful art, allows the viewer not only to laugh at themselves but to examine many of the absurd aspects of life.
