About The Artwork
This artwork was inspired from a journal project in 2015, where I sent out, collected and read journals of unknown people and created a series of paintings based on the collective themes from reading the journal entries. There was a lot of emotion, sadness and a year of rain it seemed during this project, which carried into the evocativeness of this painting, conveying both hopes in our fears. The acrylic is developed in layers, much like the journal entries, so the white areas are more of a washing of whites over and over to breathe translucent qualities into the paint where you can barely glimpse pieces of the underpainting colors of red, aqua and yellow.
