This series of paintings and photographs explore the ideas of time, mortality and life cycles. "All That Glitters" addresses the physical world and temptations man faces in efforts to appease his spiritual side. A photo-realist lotus blossom and gum drops are presented as offerings. The duality of sweets that are a delight to eat is contrasted with our knowledge that while enjoyable, they are not very good for the physical body to ingest. These elements are juxtaposed against an abstracted background hinting at Yin/Yang and travel through spatial dimension, real or imagined. Buddha's face is obscured - representing the ancient Buddha statues in Pakistan which were defaced or destroyed by militants. Acrylic, gesso and mica flakes on canvas.
