About The Artwork
This painting was part of a three piece series capturing the atmosphere and action of the Atlantic Ocean in Florida. Mid-afternoon clouds were building up to the eventual thunderstorm that is so common during the hot summer days in Florida. The surf is painted in a dynamic fashion using a combination of brush and palette knife that allows thick paint to be applied over subtle layers of beach, sand, and receding water.
