About The Artwork

This is my take on a style pioneered by Henrietta Berk. Shifting colors from traditional oranges and greens to paler blues and yellows opened up this still life to additional light. Berk was impressive in her ability to deconstruct landscapes and still life and infuse modernism into compositions forgotten during the the explosion of abstract expressionism in the late 1950's.

I am an artist living in Los Angeles and Montrose, Colorado. My abstract and impressionistic works are based on contemporary themes from his travels and experiences from New York, Asia, California, and the Western United States. My work can be seen in exhibits at the Kline Academy of Fine Art, Los Angeles, the Hawthorne Arts Complex, and on website www.robertzentgallery.com. A recent work is on display at the Old Mission Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara, California. After being a writer and marketing consultant, I found being an artist was my next calling. I have lived and traveled the world, but now live in Los Angeles and Colorado. It's important to listen to what's inside yourself. We typically bury our creative spirit, despite the fact it is often our core essence. I like working in large formats using acrylic, oil, photography, and drawing.
