This painting is the second painting in the collection, The Palette Knife Collection. Instead of using brushes, I have used only palette knives and a mister to dispense the water. What attracts me about abstract paintings is that the viewer can interpret whatever he or she sees, instead of focusing on what the artist sees. I have not painted many abstracts, but am told to consider continuing this direction. I'm extremely happy with the outcome. Please note that this painting is not yet matted. Once matted, it will measure 24" x 36" and will fit in a standard 24" x 36" frame. It will be sold unframed. The price will change slightly due to the matting.

Nancy Riedell, an internationally recognized, award winning artist originally from California and now living in Nevada, graduated from San Francisco State University where she studied Fine Arts. Classes included figure drawing, color values, acrylics, oils, and art history. Nancy’s love of art goes back to childhood as her mother encouraged her to develop her art skills by giving her art materials and art books so that she could develop her technique. Nancy’s current medium is watercolor. The bold use of colors and interesting landscapes has played a strong role in Nancy’s unique paintings. She feels that although she has been working with art since childhood, it is only within the last few years that she has felt the calling to go back into her art. Her work reflects her passion well by using strong, saturated color and theme. Nancy likes to take advantage of every opportunity and is known to photograph subjects for future paintings. She has captured beautiful sunrises in Monterey County, unique beach scenes in Santa Cruz County and unusual rock formations in New Mexico. Nancy’s art has been displayed in galleries in both the United States, England, and most recently, France. Nancy has been in four publications and has received seven awards to date. Nancy is a current member of the California Watercolor Assn, the National Watercolor Assn, and the Sierra Watercolor Society.
