About The Artwork
Begun as a "found face" within random blobs of watery paint, this head shows the highly abstracted facial features of a boy boldly outlined in black. The image sits on a yellow ground that only changes slightly as the color moves through the boy's face. In this way image and background become united and the symbol-like rendering of the boy becomes prominent. The tent-like nose lends a comic touch to the already exaggerated features.
