About The Artwork
"Current" was inspired by the form and light reflecting off of a school of fish and how they move as an whole unit swimming in spirals. The background is painted light to dark with patterns of swirls, geometric shapes, lace, and repeat pattens hidden in the background is the word "speed" and a compass rose to symbolize direction. I start the painting by collaging printed paper on to 140lb arches paper then a detail drawing of the fish with patterns and images all over the paper. It is painted in watercolor and pen and ink in many layers over time.
