About The Artwork
This piece is entitled "Empty Room," as it is an abstract interpretation of the song by Arcade Fire. Montreal was the first place I moved away from home. “The Suburbs” album from Arcade Fire had just been released and it became my soundtrack I’d listen to over and over on the Metro. The music of Arcade Fire perfectly articulates the surreal, energetic, and endearing nature of this magical city. Having moved there by myself when I didn’t speak the language was intimidating, but this music and the amazing people of Montreal helped create me a new home there. Merci Beaucoup!

Mike Habs is a Los Angeles based artist originally from Chicago's south side whose artwork interprets punk rock music with vibrant abstraction. Mike's work is centered on conveying "the intrinsic value of punk rock." His use of urban aesthetics against architectural perspectives communicates 'the chaos within.' He is a strong proponent of the Do-It-Yourself mentality and his inspirations derive from the works of Banksy, Moncho 1929, Damien Hirst, and Casper Brindle. His works have been featured in NBC’s “Will & Grace”, Wallspace LA, Gabba Gallery, and was most recently shown during the 2017 Art Basel festival in Miami.
