About The Artwork

Cut and painted papers create this vibrantly colored and whimsical painting. I live in the American Southwest which is mostly a dry desert climate. During this time of Covid self-quarantine, I enjoy ‘traveling’ to different environments via my artwork. This painting was created to commemorate the endangered Forest Elephant of Africa. The tusks of these forest-dwelling elephants are denser and more desirable to carvers than the ivory of any other species which make them prime targets for poachers who kill the elephants for their tusks. I use Golden acrylic paints to add color to high quality printmaking papers. Then I cut out desired shapes and images with either scissors or a craft knife. Acrylic gel holds it all together, and seals the entire piece with a final over-all coat. A Certificate of Authenticity is included.

Born on the West coast of the US and raised in upstate New York State I now live in the American Southwest in Tucson, AZ. Making art was my first love as a child, and art continues to impact my life every day. Although I grew up in a small town I had a lot of artistic influence from my family; my father loved art & played musical instruments, one of his brothers was a professional artist, my mother always encouraged making hand-made gifts and cards, and two of my five sisters are also artists.
