About The Artwork
I live near Hampton Court and one evening the sun was setting casting amazing shadows. I quickly took photos and very quick sketches to remind me of the colours and when I got back home I started the real painting. I particularly liked the way the sun was setting behind this historic building and set out to achieve this. I have painted a lot of London's historic buildings and I have painted them in situ. It took me quite along time as there was a lot of detail but I was very pleased with the end result.

My childhood was spent in Sussex where I developed a love of the rolling hills and country side. After Art college I moved to London where I continued painting. I discovered pastel painting a few years ago which I love for its brilliant pure colours. I found the light and rich colours of the South of France could be caught using using this medium. After visiting New York, where I had an exhibition , I was very interested in the awesome buildings and am currently painting a series of cityscapes of New York and London.Patricia is influenced by the French Impressionists.Working in oils and pastels, producing still lifes, landscapes and nudes of scenes that range from Twickenham to St.Tropez, Patricia's resulting work reflects the vibrant colours and brilliant light of the South of France.Patricia was recently made a member of the Society of Women Artists.
