My paintings investigate the temporal experience of viewing place. The designs are constructed from collected impressions in a collage process; Furnishings, architecture and the garden take one’s attention at different moments, they are manipulated within the composition and in this way the work intends to be a record of time as well as place. Windows make a visual connection to the exterior world. Hillside House opens out and allows a connection to nature. Home becomes a sanctuary. This painting attempts to evoke the multiple perspectives viewed from a space of familiarity. A celebration of the aesthetic of the home seems particularly relevant at this time when so many of us have been confined to our homes. This painting features thick paint applied in a heavily textured manner. Made with highest quality materials on artists linen.

Australia
Lise Temple has been painting South Australian landscapes for over 20 years. Her paintings explore the experience of viewing place from changing viewpoints, moving through degrees of abstraction. Her portfolio features lyrical abstract landscapes and abstracted interiors which she develops through a collage composition process. Additionally, smaller outdoor paintings are produced as studies en plein air. Bold colour, generous application of impasto paint and lively brushwork feature throughout. The true subject of the work is always the colour, form and design. The abstracted interiors are intended to represent the passage of time. The compositional elements of architecture and space are manipulated with the objective to intertwine the experience of past and present. The designs are constructed from collected impressions; looking out a window or across a table, walking out of a room, listening to the sounds and remembering a view. She attempts to evoke memories through referencing furnishings and decorative motifs. "In all of my work I intend to insinuate notions of form, space and time but also to leave room for the viewer to become involved in making their own interpretation of the subject."
