About The Artwork

My abstract expressionist painting 'Hue's Lagoon' was created with oil and cold wax, using only palette knives. By creating this piece, I am inviting the viewer to explore the depths of mind/Spirit and delve into the mysteries of human existence. This painting is a blend of realism (human) and abstraction (consciousness) and it can generate thoughts and feelings that unleash raw emotions. This painting is a visual poem straight from my meditations. In Hue's Lagoon I lay down paint marks that invite the viewer to linger in thought and rest in their own heart. I made this painting using the wrap around edges technique, meaning I carried the painting around and onto the edges. This oil and cold wax landscape painting was created in the abstract expressionistic style and delves into the mysteries of human existence: the push-pull of being alone and from a larger group, and at the same time being connected.....

Originally from the small California Sierra village of Blue Canyon, CA I now reside in the San Francisco Bay Area where I make artwork influenced by my childhood and life-long experiences engaging up close and personal with Nature, introspection, deep meditations (or prayer), and our collective Soul. The paintings I make are definitely abstract expressionistic in style and I often 'find' them lingering in the corners of one of my deeper meditation sessions. I love color, form, line and opposites! And, I am greatly influenced by my favorite master artist Joan Mitchell.
