About The Artwork
During an ice fishing trip in Wisconsin, USA, Colby harvested a few rock bass to fillet and cook. Prior to processing the fish, an idea was created to reestablish these commonly disregarded unwanted fish species into individual fish imprints that display character, beauty and self awareness beyond the general public viewpoints. Using a mixture of different color paints for each imprint established colorful life-like movements in absolute darkness while reflecting on all life and how its perceived. The darkness represents the void that others can't see beyond what you perceive yourself as. Each fish represents the diversity of individuality and acceptance as a whole when others see you for you. Displaying the natural beauty, elegance and grace that is normally forgotten or ignored in life. Connecting to ones own individuality outlook while living a harmonious partnership with others.
