About The Artwork

This is a portrait of a 100 year old kalashi woman made in watercolors on watercolor sheet. Kalash is an old civilization of Pakistan who are an Indo-Aryan civilization. They are Pakistan's smallest ethnoreligious group. The painting shows the multicolored cultural dress worn in the festival, Chilham Joshi. The portrait shows the experience of the 100 year old elderly. Each wrinkle on the hand and face shows the hardship the civilization has faced.
