About The Artwork
Lavender #1 is the first in a series of paintings of Lavender that I completed last year, inspired by the abundance of beautiful lavender that exploded in my garden. The smell, structures, and look of the plant prompted me to look up its history and medicinal uses in addition to being compelled to paint it because of the unique look and structure of the plant. To this painting I added photographs that were rescued from being thrown away by a friend who knew I used photos in my artwork. They add a layer to the look and meaning of the painting that I enjoy.
