Alison C is an abstract acrylic painter whose work is focused on creating a visual experience that prompts viewers to feel and think deeply. In her practice, Alison works with a range of colours – primarily calming tones that evoke a sense of tranquillity – but also hints of sharp colours to create a sense of contrast and tension. Her work is as much inspired by her day-to-day life as by her travels, and her feelings and thoughts along the way. Another constant influence on her practice is her love for the sea. She grew up in a coastal area, where she often found herself staring at the harbour, soaking in its nothingness and plentifulness all at once. Through the use of different shapes and strokes, she aims to express her emotions and share her internal world with the viewer. Each stroke is deliberate and intentional, capturing a moment in time and conveying a specific feeling or thought. At the heart of her work is a belief that art has the power to connect people in meaningful ways. By sharing her innermost thoughts and feelings through her paintings, Alison hopes to forge a connection with the viewer that transcends words.
