About The Artwork

20. Metropolis is the last painting in the series entitled Now-Mandala, and serves as the transitionary piece to the next series of paintings entitled Scripts. This painting started as an experiment to incorporate more element into the conventional structure of the Mandala, and resulted in one of the most successful works in the series. The painting changes when viewed under UV light, producing an exuberant yellow glow emanating from the calligraphic strokes on the surface. The painting has been created using the highest-quality archival acrylic paint on canvas. It is currently available stretched on a wooden stretcher. The UV light is not included with the artwork and must be purchased separately (easily available on Amazon).

Loose, translucent textiles and ancient ceremonies form the foundation for Seth’s large abstract paintings. Seth grew up in the cosmopolitan city of Dubai, where converging nationalities and cultures led to a fascination with pluralism. Javanese Batik, Peruvian Shipibo patterns, and Tibetan Sand Mandalas have all influenced the artist’s vision, which seeks to integrate creativity and spirituality. To that end, Seth has hosted workshops that combine art, music, and yoga in partnership with organizations such as Dubai Culture, Aisha Al Abbar Gallery, and Nasab KOA Canvas. He has also held talks at Heriot Watt University, Dubai and Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar that challenge future generations to take creative responsibility, not just individual nations, but for the entire world. As a third generation-artist, Seth received his Bachelor’s in Fine Arts from Cornell University, and his work has been exhibited most recently at Dubai Design District and Kevala Foundation, India.
