Part of a group of paintings belonging to the theme "Animal Realm" shown for the first time in May 2019 in Tunbridge Wells, UK. This painting was inspired by "Beelzebuth" the pet snake I once had. He was a very gentle being. The title for this painting came quite by chance. I was seaching for a suitable title for my painting when one day I found in a store a very nice old wooden frame that housed a reproduction on cardboard of Renoir's painting entitled "On The Terrace". I purchased the frame which had also the titled artwork engraved on a plaque on it's bottom side that read "On The Terrace" a Renoir. Since this title suited perfectly the subject matter of the scene I had painted of my snake I decided to borrow it from Renoir. Since that time I am using this same frame whenever I exhibit my the painting. I hope Renoir does'nt mind to much...

I like to think of myself as an imaginary artist, creating art with a dreamlike quality that tells a story to the viewer. Parts of my creative inspiration can be traced back to people I have known or met, or to the fascination and love I hold with nature and animals. Some of the places visited through out my life and who have made a decisive imprint in my memory often find themselves sooner or later in my work. Even a simple common day object that have I incountered can become an inspiration to create. The subjects I depict are varied and sometimes unusual but to me they are close to heart and an expression of my freedom as an artist. Drawings, mental images and sometimes photographs act as a starting point in my creative process, regardless of the medium being used (painting, silkscreen print making or digital print making) . Follows, an experimentation with colors, geometric forms combined with varied textures. In the end, the final piece has an intriguing and sometimes surrealistic atmosphere to it. Occasionally, I also like to use poetry to complement and explore the interaction between image and words. To the casual observer, my work can be perplexing and difficult to categorized. It is nevertheless unmistakably modern: drawing it's influences from many important styles such as Pop, Post Impressionism and Naive Art, while not exclusively limited to them. Often my paintings depicting animal scenes have an exotic feel to them. My prints of women are romantically portrayed while my urban scenes are treated with a surrealist touch. My most admired artists are Vincent Van Gogh and Henri Rousseau, both of which I credit for the inspiration and encouragement to continue on as an artist. I also drawed enthousiam for art from Walter Lewicki an esteemed friend and fellow artist. My art is found in is National, International and Private Collections
