About The Artwork

‘Red Max’ is part of my ‘Aviary’ series which I paint in my ‘Flare’ painting style. In this group of work I use beautiful birds that I am fond of to depict human traits and characters in a satirical way. I love satire too by the way. So, it could also be said that I am painting people at the same time. In this piece I am utilising the magnificent red macaw, a show of marvellous colours, a natural splendour. Certainly noticeable and adorable to watch, Red Max stands out and would probably be looked upon as a show off had he to be a person. Certainly flamboyant, but do I see a bit of narcissism here, pruning his pins as if kissing and caressing himself and always looking dandy. He probably feels good as well. Nothing wrong with looking good , definitely not. It is better than looking bad, wouldn’t you say? I suppose all of us want to look great and it is in our nature. I am sure we have all seen or come across a Red Max in our lives.....mmmm perhaps when looking in the mirror? I hope you feel good and at your best. Thanks for your interest, Zeal.

Jason is a painter and illustrator of various styles and different media for different ends. Principally a surrealistic and abstract artist, he has a fondness for satire and caricature, with a hint of humour fantasy and the whimsical. Nevertheless, there is a realistic and a sober aspect to some of his work too. His different genres of works are ongoing series which are added to from time to time, whether it is his Aviary, Abstract, Allegoric or any other style he employs. World events, social affairs and politics draw his attention, but he can be inspired by everything and anything seen, heard or felt. His expression can be direct or ambiguous. What is prevalent throughout his work is light, movement and flow, hardly any black is employed, leaning towards enlightenment.
