About The Artwork

This is my painting of Dunnottar Castle, one of my favorite​ places in Scotland. Dunnottar is in Aberdeenshire near the town of Stonehaven. This was completed in 2017.

Gordon Bruce is a full-time artist from Aberdeen who paints landscapes and seascapes in oils. The paintings have a variety of subject matter and genres. He is known for painting cows as portraits and in folk art landscapes. Fairytales and children stories are some of the inspiration in his paintings with Peter Pan featuring in past works. He is also influenced by the British work of Lowry and the Scottish landscape. European naive art and American folk art are also an influence in his work.
