About The Artwork
The sacred city of Varanasi attracts millions of visitors from all over the world, every year. Some of them take pilgrimage in the city, becoming sadhus and living a simplistic and minimalistic life. On my trip, I saw many Sadhus on the Ghats of Varanasi including the one who was from a foreign country, and I always find it fascinating how they follow the path of spiritual discipline, renouncing a worldly life and believe in achieving Moksha which is liberation from the cycle of death and rebirth. As per the Hindu mythology, the 'Ganga Snan' or bathing in the holy waters of Ganges is a ritual to release one from all the sins and a doorway to achieve Moksha. I tried to capture the essence of this holy ritual through my brushes.
