About The Artwork
I live in the American Southwest which is mostly a dry desert climate. During this time of Covid self-quarantine, I enjoy ‘traveling’ to different environments via my artwork. I especially enjoy the brilliant colors and exotic plant life that can be found in humid climates and tropical environments. Some of the plant life in this painting is recognizable as coming from specific species, others are imaginary, created by combining aspects of more than one species to capture the feelings that exotic flora often evoke. Most of the papers for this painting are colored art papers, and some I painted with acrylics. They are all hand-cut with either scissors or a craft knife. Acrylic gel holds it all together, and seals the entire piece with a final over-all coat. A Certificate of Authenticity is included.

Born on the West coast of the US and raised in upstate New York State I now live in the American Southwest in Tucson, AZ. Making art was my first love as a child, and art continues to impact my life every day. Although I grew up in a small town I had a lot of artistic influence from my family; my father loved art & played musical instruments, one of his brothers was a professional artist, my mother always encouraged making hand-made gifts and cards, and two of my five sisters are also artists.
