I have recently painted a series of smaller works in the minimalist style and vivid colors of Stills, Motherwell, Pollock and Rothko. Experimenting with a combination of textured paper, acrylic paint and ink for varying effects. My goal is to stimulate the viewer's senses with shape and color where by they can form their own interpretation and experience the piece without titles and preconceived notions about the artists intentions. In these works I have chosen to work with acrylic and ink on paper. A heavy paper lends texture, acrylic paint lays on top of the paper and the ink absorbs into the paper giving the piece a layered effect. The artwork is then floated in a simple black frame so as not to detract from the painting but highlights and focuses on the artwork itself.
