About The Artwork
This piece is an exploration of the uterus as a vessel for life. A mass of tissue is responsible for protecting, feeding, and supporting the development of new generations. That fascinates me. The evolution of mammalian biology resulted in an organ that harbors and carries the young as one goes about their daily lives. The uterus is a symbol of intimacy, nurturing, and growth. The colors I chose represent warmth and the edges/ shapes the softness of a mother's touch. Archival ink, markers, pen, and pencil on yupo. Arrives unframed in a heavily cushioned box for protection.
