About The Artwork
This large painting is based on two trees that I pass by every day down at the farmyard. The branches hang side by side and the colours and textures seem to be different every day - a gift for any artist! It is painted with a wet in wet style in the background and then quite detailed work in the front. Winter Berries is painted on handmade 300lb paper. It has a beautiful deckled edge and is framed with a floating or top mount and frame. Hello! My name is Emer Beattie (née Leavy) and I am an Irish artist living in the Highlands of Scotland. I was raised outside Mullingar, a town in the very centre of Ireland, but have been living here for the past 24 years with my Scottish husband and family. I paint scenes of nature - mostly wildflowers - in watercolour. I feel drawn to these small beauties probably because they are so often overlooked and yet it is a real challenge to capture the spirit and freshness of each one.
