‘Woodland Sapphire’ Print

A fleeting glimpse of a kingfisher in the woodland undergrowth. Kingfisher’s are such solitary creatures. It seems when people speak of seeing them, it’s significant and poignant to them. And it most cases quite rare! ‘Sapphire’ in name and by nature- rare and the deepest and rich dark blue. I have collected foliage from woodlands such as leaves, moss and bluebells. I have then painted and pressed the foliage directly onto the canvas for an imperfectly true portrayal of natures plants and undergrowth. Seasonal bluebells were a particular feature in this piece. The semi abstract colours give a whimsical and intriguing portrayal of the kingfisher’s natural habitat. Being amongst nature is proven to be good for wellbeing. I love to create original paintings of our stunning wildlife for this very reason. To capture it in all its glory and form a connection by gathering real foliage to paint and press onto the canvas. An authentic element of nature in art form to bring the outside into your home. Finished with gold leaf cascading from the top left. My initials are displayed on the canvas edge inverted in gold leaf. An official certificate of authenticity, care information card accompany the painting.
