About The Artwork
'Yu Shu Lien' was one of the main characters in the Ang Lee movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which is one of my all-time favorite films. The character is played by Michelle Yeoh, who is now an Oscar winner for the film Everything Everywhere All At Once, but this film is many years prior. I've been a fan of Michelle for a very long time, and the character Yu Shu Lien is such a strong female both physically and mentally. Fun fact, Michelle Yeoh is not a trained martial artist; she is a trained dancer. That is how good she is!! This painting is one of my favorite moments in the film where Yu Shu Lien is fighting the thief (another main character) and you really get a sense of Yu Shu Lien's mastery of skills, wisdom, determination, and how she bests her enemy over and over, only to....
