***Image Serene got 2nd place in National Award 2016 of Sony World Photography Award 2016.*** This image is a self-portrait made in front of a white wall. I used only natural light from my window. Image is extended into a square format later in post production and it's made from three separate images. Story-line: Girl is looking for serenity, while in her head is raging storm.

My name is Anja Matko. I'm a fine art photographer from Ljubljana, Slovenia. My images are creative and the stories I'm presenting have a dark and surreal theme. Inspiration for my work I get from my favourite stories, movies, life situations, feelings and emotions. Creating self-portraits became some run from reality for me, where I can transfer my frustrations, ideas and thoughts into new stories. I also love capturing details around me and creating beautiful abstract images full of textures and colours.
