About The Artwork
I made this photograph in Goiana, Pernambuco, Brazil. This is one of the windows of the Chapel of Santo Antônio do Engenho Novo, from the sixteenth century. What motivated me to make this photograph was the possibility of partially framing two internal doors, through the opening of the window. In addition, the marks of time ended up giving it a special beauty, worthy of being recorded in a photograph.

Martiniano Ferraz is a Brazilian artist who lives in Recife, Pernambuco. It was during holiday trips, while still working as an architect, that he was charmed by photography. Nature, architecture and the urban are the themes he usually photographed. From 2020, while isolated in his home due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Martiniano Ferraz began to produce also geometric and abstract digital arts, where it is common to have vibrant colors and three-dimensional effects. One of its greatest sources of inspiration, in the use of color, is the art produced by the Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes.
