The print is informed by Pop Art and hints at the visual languages of the subcultures of the Mod and Glam Rock eras fused with the tradition of typographic and lettering artists like Al Held and the simple geometric patterns of Color field artists such as Kenneth Noland. My work explores themes of memory and ambiguity connected to the perception and relationship to everyday visual languages. Although this artwork is new, the abstracted sections of typography aim to create a sense of recognition in the viewer, and the colourway could prompt memories. The stylistic component of the typographic forms might conjure up images of long-forgotten paperback book covers, music graphics or commercial posters. Visually the piece illustrates the power of reducing elements into pure graphic forms that create vivid and dynamic tensions enabling evocative creative outcomes.

My work is informed by emotional responses to colour and the figurative and abstract forms found in natural and urban settings. I have produced creative works for high profile museums and galleries including the V&A and the RA, London. Recent MA study in Art and Design has taken my practice in a typographic/pop-cultural direction.
