In 1988, while working on an etching in a printing workshop in Venice, Till Felix Hallauer discovered his preference for the pathos and swelling movements of Italian Baroque figurative representation. Inspired by drawing from works by Tiepolo, Tintoretto, Rubens and Poussin during study visits to Venice, London and Paris, he developed a repertoire of figures during his art studies that was initially strongly oriented towards the Baroque. Developed entirely into his own unmistakable style, this repertoire continues to open up new possibilities for a playful, sometimes whimsical approach to the figure in space. The results of his paintings bear witness to this penchant for movement and dynamism. They are occasionally based on literary or mythological sources or develop as free pictorial solutions during the work process without any previous idea. On closer inspection, however, more recent drawings and prints also reveal the processing of impressions that arise from the examination of newer art genres such as graphic novels or urban art.

When he started studying fine arts in 1986, one of the topics Hallauer particularly focused on was the drawing and painting of the human body placed in different pictural spaces. During study visits to London, Paris and Venice he had the opportunity to draw sketches of paintings by Tiepolo, Tintoretto, Rubens and other painters. Since then his artwork has been influenced by the baroque handling of human figures. However, he developed his very own repertoire which enables him to "play" with every imaginable depiction of human figures in pictorial spaces. Although the figurative works have been dominating until today, abstract paintings have come into being, too. At first sight, Hallauer´s work seems to be divided into three independent work groups: Many images deal with mythological influences, mostly in a more or less ironical manner. Others show nudes and human figures - either „floating“ or surrounded by shapes and colours which might evoke impressions of nature or architecture. Finally, there are the abstract paintings. They are dealing with natural and cosmic cycles, however, avoiding any depiction of visible reality. At second glance, the connecting links between his works are clearly discernible: the distinctive handwriting and the fascination with nature and mankind, captured by shape and colour. Together the works thus show complementary views of the same artistic position. Hallauer lives and works as an artist, art teacher and musician in Saarbrücken, close to the French border. Art lovers from Saarbrücken, Hamburg or Munich, from Saragota Springs, Seattle and Toronto collect Till Felix Hallauer´s works of art.
