About The Artwork

Yr.0 stands for Year Zero and is based on the idea of resetting and the potential for renewal. The piece is created with handmade collage and digital manipulation. The work is informed by the energy and effervescence of cities such as London, New York, Paris and Tokyo and their resilience and capacity for cross-fertilisation that enables the evolving and sustaining of creativity. The forms of zeros represent people's interactions, connections and ideas in the metropolis and how these enable new movements in arts and culture to be formed. Aristotle wrote about "the happiness of the city" and surmised that cities enable people to fulfil their ambitions and discover all they need to attain their professional goals and reach personal fulfilment. This work is a homage to Aristotle's ideas and celebrates the beauty and potential of urbanism.

My work is informed by emotional responses to colour and the figurative and abstract forms found in natural and urban settings. I have produced creative works for high profile museums and galleries including the V&A and the RA, London. Recent MA study in Art and Design has taken my practice in a typographic/pop-cultural direction. I will continue to develop the work through visual experimentation to produce art that communicates the artistic intention to the viewer in a visually compelling manner.
